Carpet serging

Serging wraps the edge of a rug in yarn for a rich, hand-finished look. It’s the edge you see on most Oriental and woven rugs.

What is serging?

Instead of a fabric tape, serging wraps the edge with yarn, stitch after stitch, so the finished edge blends into the rug. It adds a luxurious look and feel, especially on thicker carpets and patterned rugs.

We serge with cotton, wool and polyester yarn in lots of colors, chosen to match or complement your rug. Most Oriental and woven rugs are serged on the sides and fringed on the ends, and we can do both.
